April is President and COO of Salter>Mitchell, an advertising and public relations firm with offices in Washington, DC, Tallahassee and Orlando. She has provided senior business and communications counsel to Fortune 100 companies, government officials and policy leaders for the past 30 years. She served as communications director to Florida Governor Lawton Chiles and has developed campaigns that have won the nation’s top industry awards, a Silver Anvil, an Emmy, and dozens of state and regional awards. April develops creative strategies that build public support or minimize opposition on complex public policy issues; her counsel helps clients get noticed in the right circles. In 2008, she sold rhino poop on EBay to generate buzz for the International Rhino Foundation and has provided marketing counsel to IRF since then. April is accredited by the Universal Accreditation Board for public relations and is a Certified Public Relations Counselor. She serves on the Board of Trustees for Florida House, Florida’s Embassy in Washington DC; Board of Trustees; Florida TaxWatch; on the Board of Directors for Leon County Schools Foundation and on the Executive Committee for the Tallahassee Chamber of Commerce. She is a graduate of Florida State University in Tallahassee and spends as much time as possible in Mexico Beach on Florida’s Gulf coast.
